Just a little friendly note to let you know we're still here and to welcome the many new members we have had in recent months. I would like to apologize for the slow approval (and in many cases expiration) of submissions. We do get a lot of them and with people actually having lives outside of this site, it simply just piles up. It's not an excuse and we're taking steps to improve the situation. If you'd like to consider being an Admin, please send us a note and we can discuss further. Bottom line: we hope to be better about this going forward.
While I have your attention, I thought it was worthwhile to reiterate the guidelines for this group:
We are aiming to approve quality images - please submit your best items only!
We do have a limit of three submissions a month.
We will NOT accept snapshots, blurry and/or noisy photographs and photography with bad quality/light/composition.
We will NOT accept sunrises nor sunsets - dusk or dawn shots included. You cannot believe how many submissions of this type we get.
We will NOT accept photography in which flash is used.
We will NOT accept nude nor fetish photography.
We will NOT accept inside shots if there is not at least 70% darkness in the picture.
We will NOT accept works with deviantART huge watermark or any other huge or really distracting watermark or text. Banners, borders, etc. fall in this category. If it detracts from the image, we tend to not approve.
Some additional tips for you:
- Please pay attention which folder you are submitting to. We may give hints on occasion, but we will decline if it is incorrect. If you're not sure about where an image belongs, look at images already in that folder or feel free to ask us directly.
- We tend not to accept candid or random snapshot images. Composition is important. This is especially true with the Portrait folder.
- We tend to not approve photo-manipulations or excessive use of post work, unless it adds something to the shot or is an amazing image.
- Submitting three versions of the same shot or theme does not make it more likely to get them approved. We may end up picking one or none of them and then you've hit your limit for the month.
- Good descriptions on your images may help us understand a bit more what you were going for on a particular shot (complete optional, but definitely something I refer to when I can't make up my mind on whether a shot belongs)
If an image has been declined, you are welcome to POLITELY ask for feedback. When able we may chose to give it - sometimes it will be something as simple as what criteria it did not meet, sometimes we can go into more detail. This should NOT however be expected on all declined images and we may reserve the right to decline providing feedback.
Thanks for continuing to send in the submissions. We're loving the shots and again, we will try to improve on the submission approvals as it stands today.
